Yahoo! News - North Korea Says It Has Nuclear Weapons

Although the world community was pretty sure about this, it is now known to be true. North Korea came out Thursday and announced that they did have possession of nuclear weapons. This is a threat much graver than the perceived "threat" we faced in Iraq. Even worse is North Korea's reasoning behind having them; To protect themselves against the power-hungry United States.

President Bush's six-nation talks that he had referred to in his campaign seem to have, at least for the moment, hit a bump in the road. Secretary of State Condi Rice said, "The North Koreans have been told by the president of the United States that the United States has no intention of attacking or invading North Korea."

"Let's see what the North Koreans do down the road," Rice told reporters on the flight home. "Everybody is urging them to get back to the talks."

Now that America has its troops elsewhere in the world, let's see how we handle an actual threat when we need them the most.
